Hi, I'm registered dietitian Cristin Dillon-Jones. Welcome to my blog! I hope you will gain new meal and snack ideas from seeing what I eat every day. It's not practical for anyone to copy every bite, but you can use my examples, adjusting the amount of food to your particular needs, and be on your way to a healthier diet.

Family Walk (dinner 11.18.08)

It's getting colder here in Boston but I just can't stay in the house all day so we bundled up and went on a family walk this afternoon. I have yet to take Bruce on a walk by myself because he pulls a little too much even with his harness but I am hoping that by the end of this week I am feeling up to it because I think we both miss it! I'll need to figure out how to walk with the dog and the baby before Mike goes back to work...I am thinking the BabyBjorn is the way to go but we'll see. Right now I am not walking for exercise, I just like to get out and get the fresh air. Once I get my stamina and energy back up I am hoping to get back to the regular distances I did while pregnant or even the longer routes I did pre-pregnancy. Running seems like a big challenge that I am not ready to take on yet but eventually I'll get back to doing that as well. I needed some roasted red peppers for our dinner so we first walked to the coffee shop (caffeine fix for Mike) then to the grocery store. For dinner we had a chicken sausage, broccoli, roasted red pepper and pasta stir fry (we just used olive oil, garlic and crushed red peppers to saute in). I didn't end up having any snack this afternoon because I took a nap and slept through the time that I would have probably been looking for something. If I am up late enough I may need something to fill me back up...it's no fun waking up in the middle of the night feeling hungry!

This Meal Provides Approximately: Grains = 3 ounces (-whole), Vegetables = 1.5 cups, Meat & Beans = 2 ounces, Oils = 3-4 teaspoons

Addendum: For a late evening snack I had a glass of skim milk and a cupcake that a friend brought over when she visited William. Yum, yum! (Thanks Kathryn!)
